Automatic and periodical generation of the full library's catalog
Bug#: 3 Product: Phoenix-Library Version: unspecified Platform: All
OS/Version: All Status: REOPENED Severity: enhancement Priority: P4
Resolution: Assigned To: [email protected] Reported By: [email protected]
Component: File Upload, Accounts, File Formats
URL:
Summary: Automatic and periodical generation of the full library's catalog
Description:
This one started as a request by Eric Hanuise, who wanted a convenient way of
extracting the full listing of Phoenix titles for offline browsing...
I found dangerous to have an online option for that as script kiddies could
easily exploit such a "feature"...
So what about generating regularly a full, joined, unbloated HTMl listing of
all titles and publish it as tha General Catalog in various formats ?

Any ideas on how we could implement that ? Special option of the search engine
which would be called by a cron script ? Directly from DB ?

Works great !
I couldn't play a lot with it because clicking a link had the bad side effect
of reloading the 1,8 Meg HTML, but generating an edition with it -says every
week, keeping only the most up-to-date version - would be kind of neat !! :-)

Yes, that's not too bad, but I wish to :
- add a section with the new titles since the last generation of the list,
- generate it in PML
- automate it on my Winbugs enabled machine as converters are only available on
Winbugs

Then yes, I was thinking about once or twice a week of the refresh.

JM was thinking about an entry in the menu to have a direct access to the
BookList entry, if we got a detail page for each book, it could be done very
easy :o)
